Apprendre l'Ewe

Before we begin our lesson, there are some things that you and I had to know.

a-1- What are the elements that can pull together to form a letter?

a-2- And what is a letter?

a-1) the first answer is: it's all the features put together that can form a letter.

a-2) the wording of the second is this: a letter is a feature that has a particular form, every feature has a characteristic and each letter is different from each other as well.

This definition does not really exist in French. So that's what makes it special and demonstrates the value of our language.

Its strength also differs from other languages.

After these two questions and their answers, we will see the different letters one after the other.

Namely: the Ewe language is composed of thirty letters. So you can find groups of ten of them on the following lines.

Here are the script of these small letters:

a b d  ɖ e ɛ f ƒ g ɣ

h x i k l m n ŋ o ɔ

p r s t u v ʋ w y z

You canread here thescript of these capital letters :

A B D Ɖ E Ɛ F Ƒ G Ɣ

H X I K L M N Ŋ O Ɔ

P R S T U V Ʋ W Y Z

We divided them into two categories which are: vowels or free sounds and consonants or non-free sounds.

a e i o u ɛ and ɔ  are vowels.

All other letters that are not included in this category are in the second category we call consonants......
